Adaptations are a range of devices that can be fitted to your car to help make driving or travelling easier. Driving adaptations can make a huge difference to your motoring experience. They may enable a person to drive where it would otherwise not be possible, and can help with speed control, steering and signalling. They vary from simple attachments, to replacing all existing controls with a system individually designed for you.
Typically, adaptations fall into three categories: they can help you drive, stow your wheelchair or scooter, or get in and out of the car. The Motability Scheme offers around 500 vehicle adaptations, many of which are available for no extra cost when fitted at the start of your lease.
Adaptations are not suitable for every type of car so it’s important to consider the adaptations you need before you choose your car. Our Motability specialists are on hand to help you find the right adaptions for your new vehicle. We work with a local Adaptation Installer who is available to visit you at home to discuss the adaptions you require in more detail and also advise whether they would be free or an extra cost on the Motability scheme.
