Motability FAQ's

FAQ’S

Do I have to be the driver of my new Motability vehicle?

No, lots of Motability customers do not drive.  The scheme allows you to have up to three named drivers, so your car could be driven by a family member, friend or carer.

Can I part-exchange my car?

Yes, it is possible for a new customer starting a lease with Motability to trade-in a vehicle. Our Motability team will be able to talk you through this and offer you a price for your vehicle subject to our terms and conditions.

How much does it cost to lease a new car through the Motability scheme?

Depending on which vehicle you choose, you will exchange all or most of the higher rate mobility part of your weekly disability allowance for the course of your three-year lease. Other parts - such as the care component - remain completely untouched and you will continue to receive them as normal.

There are three pricing options to choose from. Some cost less than your weekly allowance, others cost the same as your weekly allowance, and some require an Advance Payment. And don't forget, when you lease a car through the Scheme, insurance, breakdown cover, servicing and maintenance, tyre and windscreen replacement, MOT and road tax are all included in the worry-free package, so all you need to budget for is fuel.

Are there any electric vehicles on the Motability scheme?

Yes, there is a wide choice of eco-friendly vehicles, including electric and hybrid cars available to lease on the scheme.

What options do I have at the end of my car lease agreement?

You have three options available to you at the end of your lease agreement:

·       Lease another car through the Motability Scheme for the next three years

·       See if you can keep your current car longer

·       Return your car and have mobility allowance reinstated

What cars are available at nil Advance Payment?

We have a selection of vehicles with no advance payment needed. Visit our Motability offers page to view them all.
