The Upcoming New Kia EV4 and Kia EV5, What To Expect
In preparation for the Kia Electric Experience event on Saturday 19th July, giving those who pre-book a chance to get a first-hand look at the brand-new Kia EV4 and Kia EV5 at Griffin Mill, we wanted to give you a glimpse into the differences between these two fantastic electric vehicles to help you get a better understanding before you see them in person.
While both have very noticeable differences, Kia have made some features the same in both the EV4 and the EV5, like the:
- Harman Kardon Premium sound system
- The Kia Digital Key 2
- The signature star map lighting, unique on each model
- They share the same E-GMP 400V platform found on the award-winning Kia EV3
- Access to the Kia Connect app where you have an abundance of features like pre-setting your car's climate before entering
- Comes with the amazing Kia 7-Year Warranty as standard
- Vehicle-to-load capability (with an adapter), perfect for powering appliances

The Kia EV4

Starting with the Kia EV4, which will be the first of the two to be available to order in 2025. This model marks an exciting milestone as the first Kia EV to come in two different body styles, giving you more choice than ever before when it comes to choosing the electric car that suits your lifestyle. You’ll be able to choose between a hatchback, which offers practicality and everyday usability, ideal for commuting, short trips, and family life, or a fastback, which is a saloon-style body with a sleeker rear design, offering a more dynamic look that’s reminiscent of the sporty Kia EV6.

And there’s plenty to love under the surface too. Some of the key Kia EV4 features include:
- Next-generation electric range, expected to achieve up to a staggering 388 miles of range with the upgraded battery.
- Ultra-fast charging capability, allowing a 10–80% top-up in approximately 30 minutes at rapid charge points.
- With an output of 150 kW, it can accelerate from 0 to 62 in as little as 7.4 seconds
- A stylish interior with a 12.3” supervision cluster, 5.3” centre display and a 12.3” touchscreen infotainment system
- Relaxation seats with innovative theatre and rest modes
- Kia’s latest driver assistance features, including Highway Driving Assist, Smart Cruise Control, and Parking Assist functions.
- Room for five passengers with comfortable, supportive seating and up to 490 litres of boot storage capacity

Whether you prefer the clean lines of the hatchback or the sporty silhouette of the fastback, the EV4 is shaping up to be a great option for anyone looking for a stylish, future-ready electric car.
The Kia EV5
The brand-new Kia EV5 is the second of the two to launch and will be available a little later in 2025, but it’s definitely worth the wait. This bold electric SUV is expected to turn heads straight away, with a design that may look slightly familiar, it closely resembles a smaller version of Kia’s flagship all-electric 7-seater SUV, the Kia EV9.

Unlike the EV9, though, the EV5 will come with 5 seats, but still offers plenty of interior space. In fact, it’s slightly bigger than the UK’s best-selling SUV of 2024, the Kia Sportage, which means more room inside the cabin and a larger boot, so you and your passengers can travel comfortably, even on long journeys or with lots of luggage.

Here are some of the expected Kia EV5 features:
- A spacious cabin with flat floors, with customisable ambient lighting, a whopping 566 litres of storage which increases tremendously with fully flat folding rear seats, and lots of legroom for all passengers.
- Comfort is prioritised at every point with a smart centre console, premium relaxation seats with massage and recline functions in both front seats, sliding trays for the rear passengers with an intuitive AC control panel
- The latest connected car navigation cockpit (ccNC) with seamless user experience with responsive displays and advanced graphics
- Impressive range of up to 329 miles and rapid charging speed of being able to recover between 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes, making it suitable for everything from daily driving to weekend getaways.
- The EV5 is powered by a 160-kW motor powering the front wheels, delivering 214bhp.
- A power socket in the boot to use V2L without an adapter

The Kia EV5 will be perfect for drivers who love the feel of an SUV but want the benefits of electric driving, such as instant torque, smooth handling, and zero tailpipe emissions.
So, which one’s for you?
