The QRescue Initiative: The Renault and Dacia QR Code that saves the emergency services time
In recent years, all modern car manufacturers have increasingly focused on improving vehicle safety; not just in terms of crash prevention but also in enhancing post-accident response. One of the latest innovations in the area of harm-mitigation is by our franchise brand Renault and its sister brand Dacia, who have created emergency QR codes designed to aid first responders in their life-saving work by providing instant access to crucial vehicle information.
In such an event, every second counts; and when emergency services arrive at a scene, they often face the challenge of quickly assessing the situation and understanding the vehicle’s structure to perform a safe and efficient rescue. The emergency QR code aims to make this process more efficient by up to 15 precious minutes, increasing the chances of a more positive outcome for those involved in an accident. The ‘golden hour’ window is maximised, so patients can receive the immediate trauma care they require before being taken to hospital.
All new Renault and Dacia Vehicles from 2023 now feature an emergency QR code, typically placed on the windscreen and the B-pillar of the vehicle, making it easily accessible even in challenging conditions for emergency personnel’s immediate use. All technological information can be found in one scan even in dead zones, with its location chosen by firefighters themselves to facilitate their work.
This technology is part of Renault and Dacia’s broad efforts to improve safety and assist first responders during the event of an emergency, and through their joint initiative with French Firefighters, Euro NCAP is now noticing tertiary safety efforts made by car manufacturers.
For drivers, this means greater peace of mind knowing that in the unfortunate event of an accident, their vehicle is equipped with the necessary tools to ensure they get the best possible care.
