Sharp Looks, Sharper Drive
With GTi styling cues, 18-inch alloys, a wider stance, and sporty interior flourishes, the new E‑208 GTi stands out from the crowd. Expect a high-quality digital cockpit, Alcantara trimmed seats, and red detailing that harks back to Peugeot’s rallying roots, all while delivering the benefits of EV tech.
The E‑208 GTi isn’t just about straight-line speed, it’s been meticulously engineered to handle like a proper hot hatch, thanks to Peugeot Sport’s performance tuning. The suspension has been lowered by 30mm, giving the car a more aggressive stance and lowering the centre of gravity for improved cornering.
Handling has been further sharpened by widening the track – by 56mm at the front and 27mm at the rear – which means better stability through the bends and more planted performance overall. Enhanced brakes and a reworked steering system ensure more precise control, while lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tyres provide exceptional grip and responsiveness.
The result? A car that feels just as alive on a twisty B-road as it does composed in the city – a true GTi through and through, now with the benefits of instant electric torque.
Everyday Practicality Meets Electric Excitement
Like the standard E‑208, the GTi version will offer impressive range, rapid charging capability, and ultra-quiet running. But with uprated suspension, tuned steering, and a more aggressive powertrain setup, the E‑208 GTi is poised to set a new benchmark for electric hot hatches.
Many enthusiasts remember the last-generation petrol-powered 208 GTi fondly, and rightly so. But how does the new electric version compare? Let’s take a look:
The E‑208 GTi delivers 280hp and a muscular 345Nm of torque, pushing it from 0–62mph in around 5.7 seconds. That’s significantly quicker off the line than the petrol model, which produced between 200–205bhp and clocked 0–62mph in about 6.5–6.8 seconds.
Where the petrol GTi had a top speed of around 143mph, the electric GTi is limited to about 112mph – still more than enough for UK roads. The E‑208 GTi features a 54kWh battery offering a WLTP range of up to 217 miles, compared to the petrol version’s 47.9mpg combined fuel economy.
