The British summertime has arrived (for now), and with it comes a wave of scorching temperatures that many of us are all too familiar with. While most of us love that first blast of heat when stepping off a plane on holiday; pina coladas in hand, lounging by the pool, retreating to an air-conditioned hotel, it’s a different story here in the UK.
Unfortunately, our homes aren’t built for the heat. With minimal air conditioning and excellent insulation, it can be difficult to enjoy the sunshine comfortably. Add in buzzing bugs through open windows and climbing into a car that feels like a sauna, and the novelty quickly wears off. That’s why here at Griffin Mill, we’ve put together a few handy tips to help you make the most of the sunny weather, without breaking a sweat!
Cooling Off, The Griffin Mill Way
Luckily, we’ve got a solution through four wheeled, portable AC units… your car! 😉
Our vehicles offer more than just a way to get around. With our air conditioning service, we ensure your system is working at its best. This can include:
- Antibacterial treatment to keep things fresh and hygienic
- Replacing the refrigerant gas that keeps your car cool
- We can also replace the cabin filter to reduce pollen, which is great news for hay fever sufferers!
And for those seeking next-level luxury, some of our cars even feature cooling seats. Like heated seats, but for summer, they blow cool air directly through the seat to keep you refreshed on the go.
Barbeques & Beyond
Nothing says British summer quite like a barbecue, and some of our car features make the perfect companion for one.
Take the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function on some of our EVs, for example. This allows you to power appliances directly from your vehicle’s battery—perfect for running electric grills or even powering gadgets while you’re outdoors. (We even vacuumed our showroom floor with it, check it out on our Facebook page!)
Another summer-friendly feature is the centre console cool box on the Peugeot 3008 and , which is almost like a mini fridge built into the car! This can be handy for chilling drinks, snacks, or even after-sun lotion if you've overdone it a bit.
And for the adventurous types, why not add a Yakima rooftop tent like the one we were lucky enough to have on our Kia EV9 (thanks to The Roof Box Company) which makes setting up a breeze.

No matter how you choose to enjoy the summer, we always recommend putting safety first:
