Student of the Year 2007

nominees

The nominations for the fourth annual Griffin Mill ‘Outstanding Student Award’, in association with Rhondda Cynon Taf, have been announced and this year’s lucky overall winner will receive the keys to a brand new Peugeot 207.

Each secondary school in the County Borough has nominated one pupil to be considered for the award, which seeks to recognise young people who have excelled on either an academic and personal level.

Griffin Mill Managing Director, Anthony Griffin says:

“I know I say this every year but the standard of nominees in 2007 is truly exceptional! It will be a great pleasure and privilege to meet these young people, to hear their stories and to share in their successes. It’s going to be very difficult for the judging panel to pick just one overall winner when faced with this much homegrown talent, enthusiasm and dedication.”

Rebecca Barnes — Aberdare Girls

Matthew Williams — Aberdare Boys

Hayleigh Brookes — Blaengwawr

Rhondda Cynon Taf will give each nominee a £50 voucher and certificate and will also award three ‘regional’ prizes of £100 on the night of the award ceremony, which takes place at Cardiff’s Holland House hotel on 14th September.

The overall 2007 award winner will keep their fully-insured Peugeot 207 for a whole year. Last year, Sioned Cox from Ysgol Gyfun Y Cymer picked up the keys to her brand new car just as she prepared to begin a medicine degree at Southampton University.
