The finalists of the 2010 Rhondda Cynon Taf Griffin Mill Outstanding Student of the Year were recently invited to visit the Griffin Mill car dealership to meet the senior management of the company and members of Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Schools and Community Learning department.
Now in its seventh year, the award invites all secondary schools in RCT with the opportunity to nominate a final year student who has made an exceptional contribution to their school, their local community and has achieved significant personal success.
The winner of the Award will be announced at a black tie dinner in September at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff where they will be presented with the keys to a brand new fully funded Kia Picanto for their first year at University. The runners up will also receive fantastic prizes.
Anthony Griffin, Managing Director of Griffin Mill Garages is delighted to continue the company’s sponsorship of the event. At the event on Tuesday he said, “Each year, the calibre and achievements of all the students are tremendous. They are all great role models for their peers and it is very important that their achievements are recognised. Griffin Mill Garages hope that by rewarding them, we will encourage them to continue to keep working hard and inspire their fellow students.
Gareth Rees, RCT Acting Service Director for Planning Resources and Community Learning works with Griffin Mill Garages to co-ordinate the Outstanding Student of the Year Award. He said, “Meeting the finalists this evening has been thoroughly enjoyable. The judging process is going to be very difficult and I wish each and every one of them the best of luck.”
